A Glorious Day!
It feels like a long time ago now that winer has well and truly set in, but at the end of September we saw in the last of the summer sun with our first live music event, The Big Boulder, which proved to be a great success!
Working in partnership with music promoters Four Rivers, we felt we’d hit the jackpot as the sun shone and the brilliant blue of the sky brightened up the park after days of heavy rain. Revellers enjoyed a superb music line up that included Tandem, Rita Payne, The Silver Darlings, Garforth & Myers, Sieben and Orchestra Ruffanti.
Delicious food was offered by The Yorkshireman’s Deli and Rhumba, quality beer was served by Penelope’s bar, and hot drinks and snack were provided by volunteers working the Heeley Millennium Park Stall.
Over the afternoon hundreds of folk came to enjoy the event, many local but some from futher afield, all keen to take advantage of an afternoon of free music while sitting in the sun. Here’s what some of them had to say:
“Lovely venue, lovely music, lovely time!”
“What a glorious day! It MUST happen again, brilliant bands, fabulous food and sun to boot. Well done Heeley Development Trust for a fantastic day!”
“What a cracking day – so many people enjoying themselves and a great place – do it again”
Thank you to everybody who came down on the day and we will look forward to seeing you again next year! And because we were inundated with requested to ‘keep it coming’, along with Four Rivers we are doing just that.
