Legendary post-punk and new romantic keyboard player Dave Formula, of Magazine and Visage fame, brought his latest musical project to Heeley Institute one Saturday night in March this year. Returning to his ’60s youth, Formula’s band played a mix of Hammond driven classics by the likes of Booker T and Jimmy Smith, and originals composed by himself. He was ably accompanied by a stellar band of sessioneers in the form of Keith and Dave Angel, and he equally sought after Andy Seward on bass. Complete with a retro light show the band played into the night ’til the audience were almost all on their feet and dancing.
